Implants Treatment Options

Single Dental Implant

Play Video

A single tooth implant is a single implant used to replace one missing tooth. The dental implant dentist attaches a titanium post into the jawbone of the missing tooth as a replacement for the lost tooth’s root. Following that, a dental crown is attached over the titanium post.

Implant-Supported Fixed Bridge

Implant-supported bridges are very similar to traditional bridges. However, instead of being supported by dental crowns placed over adjacent teeth, implant-supported bridges attach to small titanium posts embedded in the jaw. The number of posts placed will depend on the size of the bridge. They are also extremely stable, and you can depend on them to stay in place while you eat, speak, and smile.

Full-Arch Restoration

If you are missing all of your teeth on your upper or lower jaw, full arch restoration can improve your oral function, health, and appearance. This treatment plan involves the use of dental implants and a natural looking prosthetic to replace a full arch of missing teeth.

Benefits of Full Arch Restoration

Full-arch implants use a series of 4-6 dental implants to restore an entire arch of missing teeth. Once these implants have been placed and have healed, your dentist will make a set of permanent or removable implant-supported dentures that clip onto the implants.

At Professional Dental, Dr. Egbert and Dr. Ingoglia offer traditional dental implants and the All-on-4® method to secure dentures in place. Here, he discusses the benefits of full arch restoration, along with your treatment options.

Improved Stability

Implant-supported dentures feel and function like natural teeth. The prosthetic is exceptionally secure because it is attached to dental implants that have integrated with the jawbone. Patients who undergo implant surgery can speak, eat, and laugh without having to worry about their denture slipping out of place.

Maintains Jawbone Health

Dental implants are good for your jaw bone. When the roots of the teeth are missing, the jawbone tissue can degenerate. Dental implants stimulate jawbone growth similarly to the natural teeth, meaning your jaw will maintain its strength and density. A healthy jaw can prevent the formation of sunken cheeks and wrinkles that often result from tooth loss.

Improved Appearance

Replacing an entire arch of missing teeth with a natural looking prosthetic that has been designed to complement your surrounding facial features will improve your appearance. With the dental implants maintaining your jawbone strength, and dentures replacing your missing teeth, you can feel confident when laughing, smiling, and talking with friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full arch implants, also known as full mouth dental implants or implant-supported dentures, are a comprehensive solution for replacing an entire arch of missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, full arch implants are securely anchored into the jawbone using dental implants, providing superior stability and functionality. This means that they do not rely on adhesives or adjacent teeth for support. Full arch implants are custom-made to match the appearance and function of natural teeth, providing a more natural and comfortable solution for tooth replacement.

Suitable candidates for full arch implants are individuals who have lost most or all of their teeth in one or both arches. Factors that determine eligibility include overall oral health, bone density in the jaw, and the presence of any underlying dental or medical conditions. A comprehensive evaluation by a dental professional is necessary to determine if a patient is a good candidate for full arch implants.
The duration of the full arch implant process can vary depending on individual factors. After the initial consultation and treatment planning, the process typically involves two main phases: implant placement and final restoration. The implant placement phase involves surgically inserting the dental implants into the jawbone, which usually takes one to three appointments. Following this, a healing period of several months is necessary to allow the implants to fuse with the bone (osseointegration). Once the implants have fully integrated, the final restoration phase begins, which involves creating and attaching the custom-made denture or bridge to the implants. This phase may require a few additional appointments. In total, the entire process may take several months to complete, but the result is a long-lasting and durable solution for replacing missing teeth.
Full arch implants offer several advantages over traditional dentures or bridges. Firstly, they provide enhanced stability and support due to being securely anchored into the jawbone, which improves speech and chewing efficiency. Additionally, full arch implants closely resemble natural teeth in both appearance and function, providing a more natural and comfortable experience. Unlike removable dentures, full arch implants do not require adhesives, and there is no risk of them slipping or clicking while eating or speaking. Moreover, full arch implants help stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss that often occurs with missing teeth. Overall, full arch implants offer a long-lasting, reliable, and aesthetically pleasing solution for tooth replacement.
Full arch implants are designed to be a long-term solution for tooth replacement. With proper care and maintenance, they can last for many years and even a lifetime. The implants themselves are typically made of biocompatible materials like titanium, which have a high success rate and are resistant to decay. However, it is important to note that the lifespan of full arch implants can vary depending on factors such as oral hygiene practices, overall health, and lifestyle habits. Regular dental check-ups, proper oral hygiene, and avoiding habits like smoking can significantly contribute to the longevity of full arch implants. Your dentist will provide specific instructions on how to care for your implants to ensure their optimal lifespan.
Our goal is to deliver the highest quality dental care in a courteous, respectful, and compassionate manner. We look forward to seeing you and your family in our offices.
